First Close Title of Texas Corporate Office Design

I was asked to help pick out furniture for First Close Title of Texas' new corporate offices. They wanted to go for a non-traditional, filrting-the-line masculine and feminine energy so both femal and male clients would feel comfortable. They didn't want the typical Texas Hill Country office. We accomplished this by using very masculine colors such as blacks, grays, metals, etc. and juxtaposing those colors with very feminine shapes.

Assisted Living Facility

During Senior year we had the opportunity to learn about assisted living facilities. This project was a semester long. Extensive research on how our bodies, eyes, and mind age, as well as research of colors, fabrics, and patterns that the residence would prefer. Our perimeters were to create an assisted living facility based on this research and incorporate a headquarters office.

Board 1 - We developed two sizes of apartments; a studio and a one bedroom, that met the requirements of ADA, but promoted independence for the residence. Complete with Kitchenette, living room, bathroom, sleeping space, as well as a patio with an elevated planter.
Board 2- Created residential wings with nurse stations and gathering areas such as a beauty parlor, wellness center, chapel, dining room. sun room. and ice cream parlor.

Board 3- Since this is to be a headquarters we incorporated the upstairs as the headquarters site. There, we designed workstations using the Herman Miller Ethospace Line.

Board 4- We provided 12 workstations, offices for CEO, Admin, and Public Relations, a copy/print room, lounge, conference room, lobby, security office, mechanical, and an ample amount of storage.

College of Business

Our senior design class was approached by the Dean of The College of Business at Stephen F. Austin to come up with some ideas for an existing out-dated building. We were separated into two groups to come up with some different ideas. One group one kept the departments and schools on their existing floor and space. The other moved all faculty up to the 4th floor. From our research, we gathered that more and more higher education facilities were implementing this idea of collaboration between faculty. The reason for this design is to collaborate with different professors in different fields on research that is so prevalent in the world of Academia. We also gathered that there was a high demand for gathering areas, areas for events, seminar rooms, conference areas, study areas, student conference rooms, storage and vending. Here are some of our objectives for the Business Building:

- Create a defining Main Entrance Multifunctional space to be used for events
- Incorporate second large auditorium
- Develop common collaborative areas
- Courtyard for students and faculty
- User friendly Administration and Advising Centers
- Utilize second and third floors for classrooms
- Establish an area for organizations
- Portray a professional image throughout the space
- Decrease traffic in hallways by adding gathering areas
- Keep finishes cohesive with School of Accountancy
- Give MBA Lecture a corporate feel
- MBA Conference room for collaboration
- Promote collaboration between the departments
- Relocate the dean to eliminate traffic through his office
- Filter natural light throughout the space as much as possible
- Provide sufficient space for graduate students, student workers, and graders
